Sabina’s Encounter Film

Researched, wrote and produced a 40 minute film titled Sabina’s Encounter (SE). SE is the first of a series of African films dealing with cultural issues like barrenness, inter-tribal marriage, aids, sex outside of marriage, etc. SE has been shown on television across Africa to wide acclaim.

“…. it is such a sweet story.” Uganda 2022

“… my sister is barren.” Tsanzania

Although SE was produced in 1994, it continues to be a “evergreen” story with characters viewers can identify with and have similar problems. Released in 1991, a report in 1994 stated that 6 million watched SE on mobile cinema van with 150,000 on how to cope with situations like barrenness. On African TV 8 million viewed SE between 1991 and 1994. During this time, it was difficult to collect response data in Africa but of the viewers over 100,000 requested information on how to cope with situations like barrenness. A Ghanian NGO worker stated, “Sabina’s Encounter is effective because it provides answers to these problems that affect marriages here in Ghana. Answers that my people can easily understand.“!
